Police and gendarmerie occupy Ruse train station because of 800 Ferencvaros fans /VIDEO/

There was an increased presence of police and gendarmerie tonight at Ruse Central Railway Station. The reason was the arrival of a train of 12 wagons from Hungary, transporting  800 fans of the Ferencvaros football team. The Hungarian team is playing an away game against the team of Ludogorets in Razgrad.

Actually, the total number of supporters of the Hungarian team is over 1000, but some of them are traveling to Bulgaria by car. The main group has rented a whole train to travel the distance to Razgrad. The composition arrived at the train station in Ruse with about 45 minutes delay, as the border check of the documents had started already in Giurgiu. Although they are nationals of an EU Member State, rules and conventions relating to football fans require that they be carefully scrutinized before being admitted to the territory of the country of the sporting event.

The Hungarians arrived in Ruse singing and waving scarves and flags through the windows. A party was apparently going on in the wagons, and the authorities in Ruse were prepared for acts of hooliganism. The reason is that upon entering Romania, the  fans started throwing small bombs at the police and built tension. They were thoroughly searched there, but police in Ruse were on the alert.

Passport control was swiftly carried out by local Border Police officers at 4 check points. Luckily, there were no incidents caused by the Hungarian fans.
