Municipality of Vetovo awards Para athletics world champion Ruzhdi Ruzhdi

Para athletics world Champion Ruzhdi Ruzhdi received a special gift on New Year’s Eve. At the proposal of the Municipality of Vetovo, the local Municipal Council approved a financial award of 3000 BGN  for his athletic achievement. The award was handed personally by Vetovo Mayor Dr. Mehmed Mehmed and Deputy Mayor Nermin Kyazimova.

In early November, Ruzhdi Ruzhdi brought new joy to Bulgaria and his hometown of Glodzhevo by winning his third world title in the World Para Athletics Championships held in Dubai.

The 28-year-old Ruzhdy, who is wheelchair-bound after a car accident, is one of Bulgaria’s most successful athletes. He holds three world titles, has been four times a European champion and his biggest achievement is the Olympic title from the Paralympics in Rio in 2016.

The honorary citizen of Glodzhevo is also a world record holder with 12, 47 meters in shot put.
